Wayne Chandler Obituary

Wayne Gregg Chandler passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the age of 101, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, wisdom, and a legacy that will live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know him.

Wayne was born and raised in Thorndale, Texas, where he spent his early years and developed the strong values that guided him throughout his long and meaningful life.

In 1958, Wayne married the love of his life, Ida. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love, commitment, and companionship. For 66 years, they built a life together, sharing countless memories and raising their family. Ida’s passing in 2024 left an immeasurable void in Wayne’s life, but the love they shared remained a cherished part of him until his final days.

Wayne was a proud American who served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his service, he attended the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas and went on to build a successful career in sales before retiring in 1982.

Wayne and Ida were blessed with one son, Thomas Chandler, and one granddaughter, Skylar Chandler of Hurst, Texas.

Wayne is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida Chandler, and his brother, Ken Chandler.

To those who knew him, Wayne was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and someone his family could look to for guidance and inspiration. He showed those around him what it meant to live a long life with dignity, perseverance, love, and strength.

At 101 years old, Wayne leaves behind more than a lifetime of memories—he leaves a legacy. His stories will be told, his wisdom will be remembered, and the love he gave his family will continue from one generation to the next.

His presence, stories, and guidance will be greatly missed. Though saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, we take comfort in knowing how fortunate we were to have shared so many years with him.

Wayne lived a long and extraordinary life, loved deeply, served his country proudly, and made a lasting difference in the lives of those around him. He will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
