Stephen Spence Obituary

Stephen Lee Spence, age 60, of North Richland Hills, Texas flew home to be with his Lord and savior on Monday, October 7th 2024.

Steve was born August 24, 1964 to his loving parents Henry Lee and Doris Spence.

Steve had two great passions in his life: his family and aviation. From a very young age, Steve built many types of model airplanes, a hobby he shared with his dad and later with his sons. Steve competed in local, national, and even international flying competitions. As a teenager, he gained his pilot’s wings on small aircraft. Steve was employed at Lockheed Martin for 22 1/2 years. He being a Fan of the Dallas Stars, had the privilege to regularly fly the blimp during the Dallas Stars hockey games. If it had wings, Steve could fly it. If it didn’t have wings, Steve could build them, attach them, and fly them as well.

Steve leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Starr Spence with whom he spent the better part of 47 years, his two amazing sons, Michael and Jonathan Schelp, his sister and brother-in-law Susan (Spence) & Daniel Williams. There are also countless nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. “- 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Fly high Steve in those endless blue skies and tailwinds.
