Simona Perez De La Rosa, 88, of North Richland Hills, passed away on May 28th, 2021. Simona was born in Sugarland, Texas on February 18th, 1933 to Macedonio and Marciala Perez. At a young age her family moved to Corpus Christi. There she later met and married Raul De La Rosa and together they raised their family of four daughters. In 2004, they moved to North Richland Hills to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
She devoted her life to her family as a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for opening up her home and kitchen to everyone. She was always willing to prepare a meal from scratch for guests, and her kitchen was always full of laughter, stories, and the delicious smell of her famous rice and homemade tortillas. She valued family and faith over everything, and truly lived her life each day as such. She will be missed for her unmatched cooking, her signature red lipstick, her unwavering faith in God, her deep wisdom, and the love and compassion she showed to everyone.
Simona was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years, Raul, two sisters, Lucy and Ruby, and two brothers, Benny and Natie. Simona is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughter, Arlene Allen and husband, Patrick and children, Lauren Hagen (Tony), Courtney and Sara; daughter, Christine Trent; daughter, Rosalinda Owens and husband, Robert, and children, Lloyd (Jessica), Donald (Victoria), and Jacob; daughter, Gloria Tatum and children, Justin (Sarah), Joseph and Jacquelyn, and their father, Les Tatum; and four great-grandchildren, Jax and Ava Tatum, Violette Owens, and Oliver Hagen.
Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas on Friday, June 18th at 10:30AM. A small reception will be held immediately after at the adjacent Knights of Columbus Hall.
