Shirley A. Pence, of Bedford, Texas, formerly of Euless, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the age of 92.
Shirley was born on December 14, 1931 in Freeport, Pennsylvania to DeWayne and Anna Goodman-Douthett. She attended Freeport High School and graduated in the Class of 1949. She married Clarence Wade Pence on August 22, 1950 and they were married for 66 wonderful years until his passing in February of 2017. One of her fondest memories with Wade were their trips to Hawaii and listening to him play his steel guitar. Their favorite island was Kauai.
Everyone who knew Shirley knew that she was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord. She was a church goer her whole life, and was most recently a member of First Assembly of God in Bedford, Texas. In her free time, she loved sewing, home and church decorating, cooking and baking for family and friends. She also loved puzzles and puzzle books.
Shirley was a strong-willed woman who loved fiercely. Though we mourn the loss of such an incredible woman, she would want us to remember the words of John 16:22, And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wade Pence; daughter, Deborah Pence; parents, Anna and DeWayne Douthett; brothers, Milford Douthett, Ronald Douthett; sisters, Vivian Kearley, Virginia Black; granddaughter, Brandi Hoffman; great-grandson, Emerik Lippert.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Peggy Reed and husband, Bill, Lori Hoffman and husband, Milt; sons, Larry Pence, Brian Pence and wife, Sherri; sisters, Sandra Bruggink and husband, Paul, Mardella Shimasaki and husband, Edward, Cheryl Clemmer; grandchildren, Meredith Knapp and husband Steve, Kevin Reed and wife Jenn, Justin Hoffman and wife Lisa, Vanessa Lippert and husband Jan, Victoria Stephenson and husband Michael, Christopher Reed, April Pence, Noah Pence; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended
family members and loving friends.
