Shane Isbell Obituary

Christopher Isbell, better known by friends and family as Shane, was a loving father, son, brother, and friend to many. Shane, age 52, passed away at his home on April 11, 2024, nineteen months after receiving his diagnosis of colon cancer.  Shane was born December 11, 1971, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jeff and Dianna Isbell. Though deeply saddened by his expected death, we remember his life fondly as it was a full and joyous one. He had a deep love of fishing, spending time in the great outdoors, playing a good game of ping pong, and performing on his harmonica.

Shane’s first job was mowing yards around the neighborhood with his friend, Jeff Morton. He worked at Putt-Putt starting at age 15, then the Haltom City Rec Center. He attended Texas State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography Natural Resources and Environmental Studies. During college he worked at Rockin R River Rides and the media department at the university.  After college he spent a short time waiting tables at El Chico with Scott McWilliams, but then started his career working for the Federal Emergency Management Administration and later the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

It was well known that Shane would bump into a friend no matter where he went. His kindness and love shined brightly on everyone with whom he came in contact. Shane was especially blessed with some special friends and his exceptional ex-wife, Whitney, who helped him in many ways to get through these last few months.

Shane is reunited in heaven with his father, Jeff; his infant son, Parker; and his grandmothers, Inez and Jeanette.

Shane is survived by his daughter, Brooke Isbell; his mother, Dianna Isbell; his sister, Holly Odum; his brother-in-law, Ted Odum; his nieces, Olivia and Julia; as well as extended family members and a legion of friends.
