Salvatore "Sam" De Luca

Salvatore "Sam" De Luca, 95, of Bedford, TX, passed away on July 16, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Patricia, and is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharon, as well as his children: James De Luca and wife Jean, Nancy Eckl and husband John, Robert De Luca and wife Sheryl, and Theresa Colson and husband Daniel.  He is also survived by his older brother, Peter De Luca, and younger sister, Rosalie Santorelli, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The son of an immigrant father from Sicily, Sam was born on June 19, 1931, to parents Benedetto and Rose (nee Leto) and raised in the Queens borough of NYC. He attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated in 1954 with a degree in Architecture.

Sam served his country in the U.S. Army, being trained at Fort Dix, NJ, and stationed for two years at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii, where he specialized as a Radio Operator. After being honorably discharged in 1956, he began his career as an architect, working in NYC before marrying Patricia Generelli in 1960 and settling in Bayside, NY, where they raised their four children. In 1976, he and his family moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he resided until moving to Colleyville, TX in 1999 following Patricia’s passing. In 2001, Sam married Sharon (nee Gregg) with whom he enjoyed traveling, gardening, exercising, playing cards, watching movies, and spending time with family.

Sam had a distinguished career in commercial architecture that spanned 35 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed competing in bowling and softball leagues until his early 80s and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1004 Tinker Road, Colleyville, TX, with a reception to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations made, in Sam’s honor, to the charity of your choice.
