Roger Paul Lazier, beloved Husband, Father, Granddaddy, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away on January 28, 2022 at the age of 77 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Roger was born on August 5th 1944 in Carlsbad, NM. He grew up in Plainfield Indiana and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1962. After high school, he attended Indiana State University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1966. Following college, he answered the call to serve and was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was decorated with two Bronze Stars, one for valor for saving elements of his platoon from enemy attack.
Following his time in the Army, Roger moved to Texas, started working at EDS, followed by Computervision and then starting his own recruiting company before he decided to retire. Golf was Roger’s passion. For many years, he and his buddies had a weekly game at Woodhaven in Fort Worth, calling themselves “the Pigeons”. He had several Holes in One, enjoyed a low handicap and was a great putter. A true patriot, he loved the 4th of July, sitting on his back deck, watching the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys, grilling, and hanging out with his dogs, friends, and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was often the life of the party. He loved telling jokes, and his laugh was contagious and unforgettable. Despite all his accomplishments the thing he was most proud of was his family.
Roger was the eldest of two children of the late Paul Lazier and Edith Phipps Lazier. He is survived by his wife Jillian Elliott, dogs Ellie & Big, daughter Laura Lazier, son Randy Lazier (Wendi), daughter Lisa Lazier Daniels (Chip) and sister Linda Lazier. Roger was Grandaddy to six beautiful grandchildren, Alissa Lazier, Greyson, Lauren and Cade Daniels, Sophia and Luke Lazier, and Great Grandaddy to his twin great-grandsons, Leo and Dane Lazier.
The family will hold a private Celebration of his life on February 26th. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Roger’s name to the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA.org) or The Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
