Robert Knox Obituary

Robert Morrison Knox passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in Bedford, Texas, at the age of 89.  He was born November 8, 1931 in Miller, South Dakota to Rev. Gaylord Knox and Lela (Shearer) Knox. 

Since his father was a missionary to Siam, Robert grew up traveling the world.  He attended school in Landor India and graduated from Berea Foundation Boarding School, Kentucky in 1946. He joined the US Army during the Korean War, in the Artillery Corp. He graduated from Purdue University in 1957 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.   He started his career working with computers and rockets at JPL in California and retired from Transco Energy in Houston, Texas in 1993.

Robert married Mary Elizabeth Zeek in 1952 and they had 44 years together until her passing in 1997.  As longtime members of St. Thomas Presbyterian Church in Houston, they were involved with service inside the church, as well as redesigning the gardens on the exterior of the church building.  They enjoyed traveling and were heavily involved in the Houston Chrysanthemum Society.

Robert married Ann Havilon Haber in 2000 and they enjoyed 20 years of traveling throughout the world.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Gaylord and Lela Knox, his brother Gaylord Knox, his sisters, Helen Murphy and Jean Jackson, and his granddaughter, Lela Knox.

He is survived by his sons, William Knox of North Richland Hills TX, David Knox of La Porte, TX; and daughter, Marsha Knox Parris currently in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.  He had 9 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in North Richland Hills TX.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.houstonaudubon.org.
