Rickey Stevens Obituary

In the afternoon on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in Paradise, Texas, Rick Stevens went to be with our Lord. Rick was a devoted husband, an amazing father, loving grandfather, and truly a great man. A wonderful role model and father figure to many, he loved his family and friends. Above all, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Whether it was on the mission field, helping neighbors, or his family, he felt the most joy when helping others. Rick was a talented and hard worker who could do about anything. As a bricklayer by trade, he branched off into home remodels, home additions, hot-shot driving, and wasn't afraid to tackle or try any new job or project.  Due to a forced medical retirement, Rick later came to enjoy organic gardening, worm farming, beekeeping, and passionately supported his favorite Oklahoma University college teams. Rick was a man of deep conviction who wasn't afraid to speak his mind. He was adamantly loyal to and fiercely loved his country. Rick leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and God.

He was born March 6, 1955, in Tulare, California along with six siblings.  Norma Gonzales, Rocky (Terri) Stevens, Kay (Travis) Watterson, Curtis (Starla) Stevens, Kenney (Martha) Stevens, Gene (Joy) Stevens. He was raised in Moore, Oklahoma and attended Moore High School. Rick moved to southern New Jersey in 1974 and met his wife of 47 years, Debra (Debbie) Engel Stevens.  Together, they moved back to Oklahoma and started their close knit family of two children, Tori Lynn Lasswell (Brandon) and Rickey Jr. (Savannah). Life then moved the Stevens family to Texas where they lived ever since. Rick was blessed with three grandsons, Austin Green, Tanner Green (Sophia Green), and Elijah Stevens. He also loved and cherished his brother and sister in law Jule and Laura Engel. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws, and a host of cherished friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Henry and Claudia Faye Stevens.

A funeral service will be held to Celebrate Rickey's life on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Forest Ridge Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider making a donation in Rickey's memory to the Wounded Warriors Project, an organization that Rickey was very passionate about helping.
