Patricia Ann “Pat” Weaver, 85, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 10, 2026. A woman of deep faith, fierce independence, and unwavering devotion to those she loved, Pat lived a rich and full life marked by service, determination, adventure, and family.
Raised in South Dakota, Pat eventually made Texas her home, where she built a career as an insurance underwriter and raised her family. She approached life with strength and resolve, rarely allowing circumstances, or anyone else, to determine what she could or could not do.
Pat was the devoted mother of four children, Rick Weaver, Penni Penick and her husband, Roger, Terry Suagee and his wife, Martha, and Randy Weaver. She was also a proud grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of sixteen. Her love extended beyond the family into which she was born to the many people she chose as family throughout her life.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Pat was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hurst, Texas, where she served on numerous committees and shared her musical gifts through both the church choir and bell choir. She loved her church family deeply, but most of all, she loved God and sought to serve Him faithfully throughout her life.
Pat possessed an adventurous spirit and remained fiercely independent until the very end. Not long before her passing, she made the lengthy drive to South Dakota to attend a family reunion, despite knowing the trip might be physically difficult. Afterward, she declared, “Nothing was going to get in the way of me making that trip! Nothing!” Those words captured Pat perfectly: determined, courageous, stubborn when necessary, and committed to living life on her own terms.
That same resolve sustained her when she was diagnosed with cancer in 1996. Pat confidently told her family, “I am going to die, but NOT from this!” She faced the diagnosis with characteristic strength, and she proved to be right.
Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion Joseph “Joe” Weaver, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Joe passed away just 92 days before her. Although their family grieves two profound losses within such a short time, they find comfort in believing that Pat and Joe are together again and that she has been welcomed into the presence of the God she loved and served so faithfully.
Pat will be remembered as a woman of faith, a servant of her church, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a loyal friend. She lived fully, loved deeply, stood her ground, and faced life with courage, humor, and unmistakable determination.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, chosen family, church family, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Rest well, Pat. You did it your way.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
