Otto Phillip Witt

Otto Phillip Witt, born April 30, 1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Ida Ruth Witt and Phillip Carl Otto Witt, passed away July 7, 2026 in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Otto attended K-12 in Kalamazoo, MI.  He was a Boy Scout and earned his Eagle Scout status at the age of 16.  He attended Michigan State University, graduating in 1964 after spending a year in Alaska working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

He met and married his wife, Linda in 1965 and returned to MSU to earn a Masters degree in Education.  His first job as a school administrator was on Mackinac Island.  The family then transferred to Akron Fairgrove for 4 years where Otto served as the high school principal.  There, he joined the Lion's Club and became a life-long member.  

Otto loved going to school and learning.  He decided that being a high school principal was a job for younger people, so he entered Case Western Law School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1974 and graduated with the Order of the Coif.  He was hired by the National Labor Relations Board, working first in Indiana and then Hartford, Connecticut.  

He and his wife moved to Texas in 2003.  In Texas, Otto joined and participated in his avocation - gardening.  He became a Master Gardener and for over 10 years volunteered at several Master Gardener projects, including the Children's Backyard Vegetable Garden, the gardens at the Samaritan House, and the Southwest Courtyard garden.  He had a plot at the Common Ground Community Garden, and actively volunteered there.

Otto is survived by his wife, Linda, daughters Kyra and Kristine, and their families.
