Another angel has ascended into Heaven. Nelga “Jeanne” Goodwin Tipton went to meet her maker on June 22nd, 2025.
Born July 3rd, 1934 in Greenville, Texas to Lois Goodwin, her family moved around Texas with the Railroad before settling in Waco. There she met her love, Ed Tipton. They married July 18th, 1952 and were married for 69 years before his passing in 2021.
Jeanne was the light of her family, soft-spoken and even tempered, everyone who met her loved her. She had a contagious smile which she freely passed along.
Jeanne was a caretaker. The oldest of six, she helped raise her younger siblings, cared for her mother, her husband, daughters and grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to her.
Mrs. Tipton worked for Myers Department Store in Hurst until 1977. She retired for R-Tec in Bedford in 2000.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband William E. Tipton, daughter Deborah Gail Kunze, mother Lois Goodwin, sisters Yvonne Chastain and Lana Harlein, and brother Charles Goodwin.
She is survived by daughters Karen Wieland, Cheryl (Russ) Gideon, grandchildren Leslie (Stephen Ginn) Kunze, Cheyenne Gideon, Jessica Wieland and Cash Gideon, great-grandchildren Austin and Blake Ginn, sister Wanda Baumeister, brother Larry (Norma) Goodwin plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved and adored her.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides, and staff at Legacy of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Texas along with Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care they gave to our mother.
