Mike Carlsen

Carl (Mike) Carlsen was born on January 7th, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 

He was born to Carl and Daisey Carlsen. He graduated from Washington High School in 1958 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1962. While attending the University, Mike also took part in the ROTC program and joined the United States Army. 

Mike married Cathy Zelinski on June 16, 1962. In the fall of 1962 Mike was stationed in Germany and where they lived there for 3 years. Upon returning to the States, they had 2 children, Carren and Christian Carlsen. Mike moved to Texas with his family on November 1, 1973, and worked at Bell Helicopter as an engineer for 7 years. Following his time at Bell Helicopter, Mike began a career in computer software and had his own company for many years. He retired in 2017. 

Mike was always eager to have a friendly chat with anyone who would listen and loved to share his knowledge with those around him. He also took great pride in his military service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that was very proud of his children and grandchildren. 

Carl is preceded in death by his son, Chris and is survived by his wife, Cathy, his daughter, Carren, and his grandchildren. 

Friends and Family are invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to St Michael’s Catholic Church in Bedford, Texas.
