Joe Franklin Jackson

Obituary

Joe passed from this life on to his eternal home with Jesus Christ on August 11, 2022, at the age of 72. He was born on March 16, 1950, in Odessa, Texas to Gene Franklin Jackson and Joe Ann Tandy Jackson. Joe had two brothers, Robert Charles and Mark Rawlins.

He attended Pecos High School in Pecos, Texas and graduated in 1968. Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corps April 28, 1969, and was Honorably discharged April 15, 1975, from the Marine Corps Reserve Forces. Joe enrolled in Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he met his future wife, Pamela Jennings, in September of 1972.

Pam and joe married in Lubbock, Texas at the First Baptist Church on October 27, 1973. Joe began employment with Halliburton Oil Service Company, following the footsteps of his father, Gene Jackson and his grandfather, Frank Jackson. Joe and Pam enjoyed living and traveling overseas and experiencing other cultures and ways of life. They spent the first part of their marriage from 1974 to 1989 in the countries of Singapore, The Philippines, Brunei and Balikpapan Indonesia, Madrid Spain, Abidjan Ivory Coast West Africa, Cairo Egypt North Africa, and Nairobi Kenya East Africa. They have two children, a son Jeremiah Franklin Jackson, born in Singapore and a daughter, Christine Elizabeth Jackson Cole born in Roseburg, Oregon. After returning from overseas, they lived in Oregon, Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Joe retired from Halliburton while in Oklahoma and soon started his own Consulting LLC Business. In 2012, Pam retired from being an Elementary school teacher after a 30-year career. They then moved to the San Antonio where Joe, several years later, retired for the second time. In 2018 they moved to North Richland Hills in the DFW area to be closer to family. Joe enjoyed playing golf, especially with good friends from Pecos, Stevie McCormick, Danny Daniel and Kirby Babb. He also had earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying a couple of planes he and his brother, Mark, co- owned.

Joe had two grandchildren that he was so proud of and dearly loved. Taylor Jackson Deustch and Parker Jackson. Taylor was married this past June to her college sweetheart, Josh Deustch. Joe was able to attend and enjoy their special day. He was very proud of Taylor and all her many accomplishments. Parker, who is a mighty athlete and drum player and in the third grade, was indeed the apple of Joe’s eye. Joe attended Parker’s ball games and they enjoyed going to the golf course hitting practice balls and having grilled cheese sandwiches afterwards. They both had a love for Cheetos and had orange fingers to prove it. He spent holidays and birthdays, fun trips, activities, and special occasions with these to grands.

Joe had many friends and relatives. But he also had many #1’s as he chose to refer to them. Those #1’s by definition, left behind to cherish his memory, are his #1 and only wife, Pam, of 49 years, of North Richland Hills, Texas; His #1 son, Jeremiah Franklin and his wife Allison, Joe’s #1 daughter in law, and their son Parker Franklin Jackson, #1 grandson, all of Colleyville, Texas; Joe’s #1 daughter, Christine Elizabeth Jackson Cole and her husband Cody Cole, Joe’s #1 son in law, both of North Richland Hills, Texas; His #1 granddaughter Taylor Nicole Jackson Deustch and her husband Joshua Deustch, Joe’s #1 grandson in law, both of Dallas.
