Jennie Lewis-Yates

"Our beloved mother, granny, family member and friend joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 4, 2021. 

Jennie Lewis-Yates was born in 1931 in Tillman County, Oklahoma. Growing up she enjoyed playing basketball, going to school, spending time with friends and family, and attending church. She moved to Fort Worth, TX and began working for Yates & Associates Insurance Agency where she remained a loyal and hard worker until death. She was a devoted member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church for nearly half a century, where she was a member of the choir and was an avid Sunday school attendant and teacher. She was passionate about reading the Bible and sharing the gospel with everyone she came in contact with; her love for Jesus shined through in all that she did. 

She is survived by two sons, Craig Lewis and his wife Denise of Wichita Falls, TX, and Lonnie Lewis and partner Carlos Cardoza of Palm Springs, CA; step children, David Yates and wife Joan of Fort Worth, TX; adopted daughter Diane Gardner and husband, Ben; grandchildren Sara Johnson, Scott Lewis, Justin Lonergan, Daniel Lonergan, Melissa Williams, Dallas Lewis and Todd Lewis; 8 step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Yates; daughter, Debbie Lonergan and son, Stephen Mark Lewis; granddaughter, Becky Smith; mother-in-law, Parma Lewis; sister, Phyllis Erwin and brother Edward T. Lowe; step sons, Mickey Yates and Jack Yates.
