Ida Annette Mathews was born on September 20, 1955, in Orange, Texas, to Fred and Ida Mathews. Annette, as she was called, graduated from West Orange Stark High School in 1973. She eventually relocated to Houston, Texas but moved back to Orange, Texas where she married Carter Collins. At the time of her homegoing, Annette resided in Mesquite, Texas.
Annette was a long-standing member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Orange, Texas, under Pastor C.W. Crawford. She had a passion for the Lord and consistently shared that passion with others. She regularly submerged herself in the Word and filled her days with sermons and praise music.
Our beloved Annette left to be with the Lord on May 17, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Preceding her in death are her husband, Carter Collins; father, Fred E. Mathews; mother, Ida B. Mathews; brother, Danny Kirk Mathews; and sister, Polly Mathews. Annette leaves behind her sisters, Sally Davis of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Joyce Helm of Houston, Texas; her brother, Timothy Mathews of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
