Grant Whitt passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 81 in Southlake, Texas. Born Lloyd
Grantlund Whitt on May 13, 1943, in Texas City, Texas. Grant was the oldest of four children
born to parents Edward and Marie Whitt.
After graduating from Texas City High School in 1960, Grant pursued higher education at the
University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree which laid the foundation for his
successful career.
A proud veteran, Grant served in the Army National Guard from 1967 – 1972 an experience that
deeply influenced his life and work ethic.
Grant dedicated the majority of his professional career to Dallas Power & Light / Texas Utilities
from which he retired in 2000 after 33 years of service. Grant served in numerous roles over his
career where his commitment and hard work were well recognized. He enthusiastically
volunteered with the United Way, and Lone Star Council of Camp Fire, serving on the Board of
Directors from 1983-1985. He was also actively involved in the Rotary Club, where he was
honored with the Paul Harris Fellow award, and he contributed to the Better Business Bureau of
Fort Worth, serving on the Board of Directors from 1992 – 1995.
Outside of work Grant enjoyed participating in his children’s activities, often volunteering as a
coach or Indian Guides or Princess Tribe leader. Besides his family, Grant’s great love in life
were his cars and motorcycles, of which he owned many over the years. He found joy in the
various vehicles he owned over the years which included a GTO, Mustang, Alpha Romeo,
Jaguar, MG, Porsche, Indian, and multiple Corvettes, amongst others. He enjoyed sharing his
cars with others for joyrides or even to serve as a lead car in a Summer Santa parade.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sherri Whitt; daughter, Robin Whitt; son, Chris
Whitt and spouse, Stacey; sister, Lana Mills and spouse, Paul; brothers, Scott Whitt, Gary Whitt
and spouse, Rhonda; grandchildren, Nolan Whitt, Livia Whitt, Beau Steffens, Jojo Whitt Da
Florencia; nieces, Stacey Hawkins, Heather Linde, Tracy Whitt, Shannon Horton; nephews,
Stephen Mills, Zach Whitt, Taylor Whitt, Brian Horton; and numerous other extended family
members and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie Whitt.
A service to honor Grant's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Forest
Ridge Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Summer Santa, Inc. at

Grant will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a hardworking and
compassionate individual, whose legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he
touched.
