Gloria Rios Obituary

Gloria Sanchez Rios passed away on May 15th, 2021 at the age of 65. She was born in Crystal City, Texas on November 14th, 1955. After high school Gloria went on to Austin where she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. While there she met her future husband, Julio Rios, in July of 1981, and the two have been together ever since. In 1985 Gloria began working at American Airlines where she worked for 19 years traveling all over to places like Brazil, Argentina, Tokyo, London, and Paris. After retiring from American Airlines in Gloria went on to work at DFW Airport. She loved the travel industry, going out and meeting with clients, and forming relationships with all whom she came in contact with.

When Gloria walked into a room you knew it. She always made an impression with her beautiful smile, signature red lip, pearls, and her ability to communicate with anyone. She would always say “I am high on life” and she would live her life that way. She would spread her love to all those who came near her with a smile, a piece of advice, a word of encouragement, or a prayer. Many of those close to her know that Gloria was the definition of a prayer warrior. She was always praying for her family and friends, and truly believed in the power of prayer.

Her proudest accomplishment in life was her daughter, Mercedes Rios Trent. She loved her with all she had and did everything she could to support her. In her life God, Julio, Mercedes, her Son in law Carter, Family, and Friends were what meant the most to her. Any time she could spend with them made her happy and at peace.

Gloria’s presence will forever be missed and her soul forever loved.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

Proverbs 31:25-31
