Gil Barrett left us on Dec 7 2025. He was born July 25,1945 after WWI ended and before WWII began. He graduated from college and enlisted in the USAF where he served 7 years, first in flight training and then as an Officer stationed in the USA during the Vietnam war.
He was a wonderful storyteller and loved to tell stories about his hunting, fishing and boating adventures. He LOVED to talk about family and share stories of the family farm with uncle Johnny, on the boat with about uncle Archie and aunt Vera and fishing with his dad and uncle Glen. He could go on for hours if you would let him. He was always up for a good project! He rejuvenated two homes and was always interested in improving the status of the “way things were" to the way they "could be”. From boat repair to house repair to even making his own homemade bread, he loved a good project. He and grandma made over 100 loaves of Turbo bread and after 100 loaves grandma stopped counting! He had a wonderful memory and it was a joy to sit and talk with him recounting all of these things.
He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife Lynne, two sisters Geri and Janet, two sons Gilbert and Matthew and four grandchildren.
Gil was a disciple of Jesus, the Messiah and could talk about the Bible forever. Throughout his life he openly shared his testimony. He now rests in God’s hands until we all are present for that soon and fast approaching great day of the Lord!
Grandpa’s favorite bible verses the Beatitudes in Matthew 5: 3-12 and favorite blessing Numbers 6:24-26: “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace".
We all look forward to seeing him again. Love and peace be upon us all.
Shalom in Christ.
