(Gerald) Wayne Womack

Our family temporarily lost a husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle when Gerald Wayne Womack was welcomed Home with open arms by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 7, 2025. He was diagnosed with dementia not long ago and would have been 80 in May. He was born in Temple, Texas, to Prentice and Trudy Womack, both deceased. He lived the majority of his life in Bedford, Texas, with his wife Pam, whom he met in 1981 when they both worked at Willamette Industries. They married in October 1982. Pam’s kids came to know him as “Dad.” We all knew him as Wayne.

Wayne was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and served in the military police at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, from 1966 until 1968 when he was medically discharged after a jeep accident. He worked at Willamette from 1981 to 1997 followed by Brinks from 1998 to 2005 and then contracted as a federal guard at a federal building in downtown Fort Worth until his retirement in 2011. Wayne had high moral standards, was a man of character and had a generous heart. When he retired, he would often fill his days helping his daughter, Christina, with her kids, whether it was taking them to or picking them up from school and spending the afternoon with them. He loved all music from the 60s to present day. He could often be found relaxing in his office recliner wearing headphones listening to an array of music, or he would carry a portable speaker outside and enjoy his music on the patio. An avid gun collector, he attended as many gun shows as he could. 

Wayne and Pam hosted the majority of our holiday gatherings. Good food and everyone talking at once made our visits loud but fun, talking about anything and everything. You could always hear Wayne’s booming voice and laughter through it all.

Wayne is survived by wife, Pamela Womack, children Phillip Christian and wife Julia (son Samuel and daughter Caitlyn) and Christina Smith and husband Troy (son Christian and daughters Addison and Jillian). He had a son by a previous marriage, David Wayne Womack. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Susan Raiford (daughter Rebecca Mason and son Christopher Hanes); Chrissy Tobin and husband Paul (son Paul Tobin and wife Jennifer; son Patrick Tobin; daughter Anna Barrett and husband Mike); and Rebecca Horn and husband Wayne Bartlett. Additionally, Wayne is survived by his sister Kay White and husband Ray. Brother Prentice Womack Jr. is deceased.

We love and miss you, Wayne, but we know we will see you again in eternal life with the Lord.
