George Maltby Mendez, 85, passed away, on Thursday November 26, 2020 at his home in Euless Texas. George was born in Brownsville Texas on February 21, 1935 to Ezequiel and Maria Mendez. George was married to the love of his life, Elva Klahn Mendez, for 56 years. He loved his family, music, garage sales, fishing, and traveling, and a good joke.
George retired from Lockheed Martin where he worked as sheet metal mechanic on F16s. He also worked on war torn aircraft at LTV in Greenville, and aircraft wings at Murdock Engineering in Irving.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Mendez; his brothers: Ezequiel Pablo and Enrique “Lecko” Mendez; and sisters: Catarina Ramon, Irene Martinez, Manuela Velarde and Magdalena Delgado. George is survived by his children: Laura Person (Tom), George Mendez (Theresa), Doris King (Beau), Mimi Lohn and Patricia Carroll (Peter); eleven grandchildren—Joseph (Christina) Thomas, Juliet Jones, Nathan Lohn, Andrew Villarreal (Kathleen), Mallory King, Cameron Mendez, Alex Villarreal, Tyler Mendez, Noah Lohn, Cameron Carroll, and Julian Carroll; eight great-grandchildren—Ava Aguirre, Ayden Thomas, Zachary Thomas, Edward Villarreal, Emma Villarreal, Sofia Thomas, Jeremiah Thomas, and Oliver Villarreal; caregiver Cris Ramos, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Ginger.
