George Crone Obituary

George Robert “Bob” Crone, 85, of North Richland Hills, left this earth and stepped into heaven whole and complete on January 17, 2023.

Bob was born on June 13, 1937 to George and Alma Crone in Mabelvale, Arkansas. After Bob graduated from Sheridan High School, he attended Henderson State University, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

After receiving his Bachelors Degree in Economics and Accounting, he was commissioned into the US Army as a 2nd Lt. in May 1961.

Bob is a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal and many other recognitions for his service. He served honorably in the US Army for 9 years achieving the rank of Major. 

In 1959, Bob met Betty Ann Duncan during their college summer jobs at Arkansas State Health Department and they were married on December 17, 1960.  They have two children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Bob was a man of great faith and loved to serve. He was involved in his church throughout the years as a choir member, deacon, teacher of young adults, youth and children. 

After working at Allstate for over 25 years, he retired and enjoyed many hobbies such as golf, woodworking, painting, gardening, coaching Little League and youth baseball and church league basketball, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. 

Bob is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Lisa Schreiber (Kevin), son Steve Crone (Lisa), his grandchildren: Shea Hutchison (Cameron), Kacee Brown (Carson), Kaylin Jewell (Caleb), Cameron Crone (Courtney), Matthew Martin (fiancé Madison), Kallie Reeves (Austin), Savannah Schreiber (fiancé Daniel), Nancy Crone; and great-grandchildren: Trevor Crone; Sadie, Weston and Amelia Brown; Chloe Hutchison, Keziah Jewell, and Warren Reeves (due April 2023). Bob is also survived by his sister Faye Moren, and brother Jim Crone (Kathy). He was predeceased by his parents George Cornelius & Sara Alma Crone; sister, Claudia Cole (Deward); brothers, John Crone, Dean Crone (Mary), and Ray Crone, and brother-in-law, Waylon Moren. 

 

Private family burial with full military honors will be at the DFW National Cemetery.

 

Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in North Richland Hills on Monday, January 30 at 2:00pm. Dr. Byron McWilliams, pastor of First Baptist Odessa Texas will be officiating.

Bob and his family are passionately involved in this ministry that serves West Africa, and other countries around the world through wheelchair distributions.
