Gary Mull Obituary

Gary Shaffer Mull was born on September 15, 1945, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, to Park and Alma (Shaffer) Mull.

Upon graduating from Somerset Area High School in 1963, Gary immediately enlisted into the United States Air Force at the age of 17. During his 5 years of service in which he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant, Gary was stationed in Illinois, Nevada, Hawaii, The Philippines, and Nebraska. Throughout his time in the Air Force, Gary forged life-long friendships which he cherished greatly until the end.

Gary married Sharon Tysor on February 1, 1969, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. While living and working in Omaha, Gary and Sharon welcomed their three children before moving to Plano, Texas, in 1974. Their move was a result of Gary taking a position with E-Systems, where he would enjoy a nearly 30-year career. At E-Systems, Gary traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, completing nearly 30 trips to Alice Springs, Australia, before eventually moving there with Sharon in 1997 for a four year Outback adventure.

While he and Sharon were raising their family in Plano, Gary was actively involved for nearly a decade in the Plano Sports Authority youth association as a coach, administrator, and official. Each summer, he enjoyed taking his family on cross-country, driving vacations to such destinations as Washington D.C., California, the Grand Canyon, Mustang Island, and all points in between. Later in life, Gary enjoyed his frequent golf outings and poker nights with his buddies as well as spoiling his four grandchildren who fondly referred to him as ‘Opa’.

Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Tysor Mull of North Richland Hills, TX; daughters Wendi Mull of Wichita Falls, TX, and Lisa Mull Hanson of Krum, TX and son Jason (Allison) of North Richland Hills, TX; grandchildren Taylor Mull, Carter Hanson, Jack Mull, and Landry Hanson; sisters Lois Hoefer of Kansas and Sue Kissinger of California, brothers Fred Mull of Missouri and Ken Mull (Kathy) of Colorado; sisters-in-law Margie Mull of Pennsylvania and Cherry Mull of California, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray Mull and David Mull, sister Agnes Jean Mull, brothers-in-law John Kissinger and Don Hoefer, and sister-in-law Marie Mull.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
