Flossie Mae Harris, 88, of Hurst, Texas passed away on December 2, 2020.
Born December 20, 1931, Flossie Mae Harris was the second child of Archie and Lily Smith’s twelve children. Beginning in Bayou Chene, she spent all her younger years in Louisiana. She was naturally smart and involved in school and church. She also appreciated her role as big sister and often spent time helping her mother to care for her siblings.
She married the love of her life, Willie Leon Harris, and they celebrated many years of marriage before his passing in April 1995. Together they had 3 beautiful daughters; Belinda Kaye, Sharon Lynn and Vickie Lavon.
Flossie was well known for her sense of humor, her love of family, meticulous housekeeping and impeccable personal appearance. She also enjoyed a rich work experience included a variety of professions; photography assistant, donut maker, warehouse worker and secretary. Later in life, Flossie became a licensed insurance agent so that she could work with her husband as he traveled for Southwest Service Life selling insurance throughout Texas.
Flossie is preceded in death by her husband - Willie Leon, her daughter - Belinda Kaye, her parents, six brothers – Kenneth, Benjamin, Donald, Freddie, Dalton and Archie (Toby); two sisters – Genevieve and Lillie; her son-in-law – David Author Stephens and host of close friends and in-laws.
She is survived by three sisters – Eloise, Peggy and Molly; her two daughters – Sharon Stephens and Vickie Kelley (Johnny Kelley); three granddaughters- Tammy Miller (Albert Miller), Traci Hughes and Crystal Wallace; one grandson – David Stephens (Ashley Stephens); and seven great grandchildren – Kali, Alyssa, Destiny, Keaton, David Wayne, Kimber and Connor. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and close friends.
Flossie will be laid to rest at a graveside service on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. in the Serenity Gardens of Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas next to her husband.
