Dorothy Moore - Wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister, Church and Community Volunteer passed onto to Paradise recently, she was 86 years young.
Dorothy was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Floyd and Marion Nettleton. She was one of nine children. Seven girls and 2 boys who along with their two parents shared a home that had just one bathroom. She attended college in Sioux Falls South Dakota where she met the love of her life, Loris Moore.
After graduation, Dorothy and Loris married, then immediately left the frozen North and moved to sunny California.
While in California, Dorothy worked for the phone company. After 30 years she retired to volunteer in her Community. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond, serving on the Hostess Committee, as part of the Missions Committee, teaching women of the Laotian church to sew, and acting as a Listening Leader at Highland Elementary School where she championed a children’s reading initiative.
Dorothy was a true powerhouse, reining in a household of 3 opinionated self-motivated redheads. She loved fiercely and was the kind, and creative side of the family. She could sew and quilt and knit, making Halloween costumes for grandkids and baby blankets for the Pregnancy Crisis Center.
Dorothy is survived by her son Floyd Moore and his wife Karla, her daughter Gail Moore Grogan; her sisters, Karen and Mary; her brother, Floyd; and the pride of her life….her five grandchildren: Rachel and Riley Moore; and Siobhan, Ciaran and Tadhg Grogan.
