Dorothy Block Ferguson, age 89 passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was born in Boone County, West Virginia on April 4th, 1936 but called several places home. She lived in Logan County, West Virginia, fished in the Bayous in Alexandria, La., walked on the beaches WPB Fla, but has called North Richland Hills, Texas home for the last 29 years.
Dorothy was the third of five children born to John and Mary Block. She married Mose Ferguson on October 25th, 1958 and had two children from that marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gail Ferguson White of North Richland Hills, Texas, her son Johnny Ferguson of Quitman, Texas, her sister Shirley Block Clark of North Richland Hills, Texas as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy has 7 grandchildren. Christy (John) Wobbeking, Michael Fontenot, Christopher (Nicole) Duleck, Brian (Cara) Shiller, John (Brieanne) White and Brandon (Kimberly) White. She has 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild as well as several others that fondly called her mom or grandma.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mose Ferguson, her parents John and Mary Newsome Block, brother Harry Lee Block, brother Steve Block, sister Cliestie Block Wolfe, granddaughter Stephanie White, Sister-in-law Judy Block, brother-in-law Charles Ray Clark, brother-in-law Donald Lee Wolfe, daughter-in-law Frieda Guillory Ferguson, niece Mary Wolfe Damron and niece Sabrina Clark Gomez.
Dorothy was a simple lady who loved with her whole heart expecting nothing in return. As the years caught up with her and she became more fragile, she never complained, but rather enjoyed being spoiled from the youngest member of the family to the oldest.
She loved her Hallmark Christmas movies and watched them from July to December. She never outgrew her love or excitement for birthdays, Christmases, Easters, chocolate, coffee, Barq's Root Beer, doing crafts, telling her stories of day gone by and Elvis Presley.
Dorothy was a devout believer and no matter the challenges she faced, her faith never wavered and hope in Christ never weakened. The legacy she leaves behind is one of strength and one of courage. There is no doubt in the minds of those that love her that she heard the words "Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
Pastor James Daniels will be officiating Dorothy’s Celebration of Life on June 28th, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Her Celebration of Life will be held at:
