Dan Clarkson Obituary

Dan W Clarkson, 87, of North Richland Hills, Texas, went to eternal rest on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. In his last days, he was surrounded by his family who enabled him to pass away peacefully at his home.

Dan was born on June 21, 1937, in Belton, Texas to James A. and Veda Mae (Hayter) Clarkson. His family moved to Waco, Texas when he was about 4 years of age and he graduated from Waco High School. He went on to attend college at UTA before going on to a career as branch manager at Colonial Savings. He later spent a few years in sewing machine and appliance sales. Ultimately, he became co-owner, along with his wife, of Audiology Consultants, an industrial hearing conservation company. When he reached retirement age, he opted to have a “hobby job” at Avis for camaraderie and a way to spend his free time.

Dan enjoyed working in the yard, having inherited his mom’s green thumb. Mostly he just loved spending time with his family and attending FUMC Hurst where he ushered for almost 48 years. After he became ill, he volunteered at Mission Central where he made new friends as well as feeling that he made a difference in the lives of the clients who came to the center.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; sister Betty Terry; brother-in-law Wayland Terry; grandson Zachary Nelson; great grandson Joel Scheidegger.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife Sandra “Sandi” Clarkson; daughters Dana Baggott (Michael), Dara Nelson (Kevin), and Danielle Taylor (Mike); brother-in-law Scott Key (Leeann); 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, cousins, extended family members and loving friends.

A celebration of life will be held at FUMC Hurst at 11:00 am Friday March 28, 2025 and will be preceded by a visitation there at 10:00 am. Flowers may be sent to FUMC Hurst, 521 W. Pipeline Road, Hurst, TX . Donations may be given to the Stephen Ministry budget at FUMC Hurst at the same address.
