Colten made the world a brighter place. Every fish just a little longer, every rack just a little bigger, every dance just a little crazier, every pot of chili just a little spicier and every silly prank just a little bit sillier. His happy places ranged from a huge dance floor, crowded with people, to the peacefulness of being alone for hours in a honey-hole or a deerstand. Facebook seemed made for him; not just to display the funniest and raunchiest of humor (sometimes embarrassing his family) but to also keep connected with dear friends and family from all the different areas and phases of his life.
For Colten; schoolwork was far less interesting than fishing, hunting and the lastest prank. Always into something outdoors but still never allowing himself to get into trouble or make decisions that could have effected him log term because he was determined and disciplined enough to graduate high school and go on to become a hard working young man.
His short marriage to Kayla brought to him the greatest joy of his life, the birth of his son Waylon King, yes named after THE Waylon Jennings as he had a passionate love for country music. From that very day he vowed to be the best father any parent can be and has never fallen short of this responsibility even as a divorced father. Not a day went by that he wasn’t looking for the opportunity to carry him to a park, sit next to him in a deer stand, bundle him in a life jacket so they could drop a line in the water or just fix him a bowl of cereal and snuggle up to him for some FGTV watching.
Colten had no hobbies, he had passions. He was an avid hunter, a master fisherman, a dancing machine, a real prankster and a huge Boomer Soooner/Dallas Cowboy Fan. Always doing all of the above with beloved family members. BEST were the days he was engaged in theses activities with Waylon in tow!
Colten’s love of family was everything and it has truly been displayed in the last couple of days by the number of family members that have stated, “He wasn’t just my brother, cousin, son, etc…”HE WAS ALSO MY VERY BEST FRIEND”.
While his death is so tragic, please rest in the fact that he would have wanted to go out with a bang and be carried into a kingdom that was created for souls as beautiful as his. August 12th, 2020 was the day Colten King gained his wings and to him this became his greatest accomplishment of all as now he can be a guardian Angel for so many.
