Bertha Nell Mitchell Ryan

Bertha Nell Mitchell Ryan, 81, of Bedford, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on April 23, 2021. Bertha was born in Hillsboro, Texas on September 16, 1939.

She married the love of her life, James “Hoppy” Ryan on August 30,1958 and together they had four daughters. Hoppy and Bertha resided for many years in Bedford, Texas and they enjoyed, family, camping and travel. Bertha is preceded in death by her beloved husband “Hoppy” her parents, Coy and Vera Mitchell, her sister, Louann Marrow Morman, her brother, Clayton Mitchell and granddaughter, Lesley Anne Hestilow. Bertha was a retired Teacher’s Assistant with the HEB ISD. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Hurst, Texas.

Survivors include her daughters, Becky Hestilow and husband, Terry of Fort Worth, Texas, Debbie Dean and husband, Jeff of North Richland Hills, Texas, Laurie Murray and husband, Matt of North Richland Hills, Texas and Jamie Whisman and husband, Kyle of Colleyville, Texas. Her sisters, Coylene Emery of Grandview, Texas and Billie Clendennen and her husband David, of Whitney, Texas, along with 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Ladora Nursing and Rehab, Bedford, Texas, for their loving care of our mother.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations in her name be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
