Belinda Whitten Obituary

Belinda Whitten was born February 28th, 1953, in Hurst, Texas to parents Wille Doyle and Bettie Lou Pitts. She enjoyed an adventurous childhood playing with her siblings, school friends, and church friends.

In the mid 1960’s the Pitts family joined Friendship Baptist Church, Hurst, TX. During her time at Friendship, Belinda developed her love for the Lord, His church, and music. She joined the choir, played the organ, piano, taught classes, and volunteered to do anything that was needed. It was at Friendship that Belinda would meet her future husband Alan, then join him in marriage on July 20th, 1973. Together they served the Lord and raised a family teaching them to serve the Lord and others first.

The 2000’s brought some major life changes for Belinda. She and Alan joined the congregation of Northeast Baptist Church where she continued playing piano, teaching children’s classes, and began cleaning the church. The biggest change was becoming a mother-in-law and then a Grannee. She loved her grandchildren, taught them Bible verses, songs, and above all to love the Lord.

Belinda’s greatest treasure of all was her salvation. Her life goal was that all her friends and family would hear the gospel and accept Jesus as their Savior. For her the “Story” of Jesus was more than a good lesson; it was “Her story, Her song, to praise her Savior all the daylong.”

On June 13th, 2023, after a short battle with aggressive cancer, Belinda’s faith was made whole when She entered the presence of her King! She now sits at the feet of Jesus and worships the one who died to set her free.

Belinda was preceded in death by her father and mother Willie Doyle and Bettie Lou Pitts, brothers Doyle, Andrew, Donald, and Wesley; sister Bettie Clarine, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, and her beloved husband Alan.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Brandon and wife Brandy, Seth, Kelsea and Dawson; Adam; and Ashlee and husband Casey, Madison, Nathan, and Haylee.

Sister Teresa and husband, Al Vaida, sisters-in-law Judy Crittendon and Sherri Whitten.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members whom she loved dearly.

Belinda loved dogs and always had a pug, boxer, or a bulldog. She is survived by her boxer Feeona; grand-dogs Ms. Kay, Alfee, Annee, Spooky, Tobe, and Luna the cat.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Northeast Baptist Church Mission Fund.

The family wishes to thank everyone who sent cards, texts, emails, and posted on social media, praying for and encouraging them during this difficult time.
