Zilpha L. May, 80, of Hurst, Texas passed away August 27, 2020. She is survived by her loving
husband of 64 years, Richard T. May, her four children Debbie Hood (Darrell), Donna Vasquez
(David), Diane Flores (Jorge), Thomas May, five grandchildren Nathan (Wendy), Jacob, Sarah,
Brennon, Austin, and great grandson Matthew.
She is also survived by her brothers Albert Krahn, Jr., Willie Krahn, and sisters Lillie Fowler,
Ethel Anderson and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna
Krahn and younger sister Eunice Frazier.
Zilpha was an amazing wife, mother and friend who accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. It was
her love of God, warm smile and friendly nature that are just a few of the things that will be
greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Her generosity and compassion seemed
never-ending as exemplified by the number of family members and friends she would open her
heart and home to.
As a woman of great faith and service, Zilpha often volunteered to help the church in many
different ways including running vacation bible schools, serving as a Sunday school teacher and
she was not afraid to bear ‘witness’ to at-risk youth in the local community. Some of her other
gifts we will cherish forever include her ability to write meaningful poems and hand paint
beautiful pictures of memorable places in her past.
Zilpha also spent time raising four children and volunteered as a treasurer in the PTA, held
numerous church positions including the pulpit committee and worked in the private sector at
different businesses including Solo Serve, and the Tarrant County Junior College Bookstore
until her retirement in 2006.
The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to her amazing caregiver Elizabeth “Lizzie”
and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels
or your favorite charitable organization or church.
