William Durayne Roper (Bill) age 83, of Fort Worth, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 27 in Fort Worth after a battle with cancer.

Bill was born on July 8, 1942 in Fort Worth to Durayne and Oneita Roper. He married Dian Everroad on January 30, 1965, and together they shared 60 years of love, faith, and family.

After 34 years, Bill retired from FWISD, where he had held positions from math teacher to administrator. After retiring, Bill enjoyed teaching math classes at TCC.

Bill was a faithful member of Legacy Church of Christ. Over the years, he has been a deacon, Bible class teacher, and small group leader. He lived out his faith daily, known for his servant heart and love of scripture.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He especially loved the time he spent outdoors with his family at the ranch and on vacations to the National Parks. He enjoyed all things western, including movies and books.

He is survived by his wife, Dian; their children, Christi (Perry) Jones, Tim (Lonnie) Roper, and Tiffany (Kyle) Cantrell; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as Hidad. They were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Evanne Coleman and Jon (Jan) Roper, sisters-in-law Donna (Carl) O’Neal, Sammye Risinger, brothers-in-law David (Tanna) Risinger, Steve Risinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Roper.

A visitation will be held at Legacy Church of Christ on October 25 at 10:00 am with a celebration of life service following at 11:00 am. Tim Hall officiating.
