Obituary

Born August 22, 1952, as the middle daughter to Willie Leon and Flossie Mae Harris, Sharron benefited from being part of a close-knit family. She enjoyed a strong relationship with both of her sisters, Belinda Kaye and Vickie. Growing up the family would often make trips to Louisiana where she enjoyed spending time with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Sharron graduated L.D. Bell High School and immediately entered the work force serving in various administrative roles before retiring as an office manager. While she certainly benefited from a successful career, she still found her greatest benefit from spending time with her family.

Joining David Arthur Stephens in marriage on April 25, 1975, they began moving through life, learning the patterns and finding ways to appreciate the effort, making progress toward improvement together, just as they did in a two-step across the dance floor. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and later in life the many friends they gained through joining the Moose lodge 1889 of Haltom City where Sharron moved through all levels of leadership serving as senior regent.

The most rewarding two-step for Sharron was being first a mom to Crystal Stephens and David Leon Stephens, and second a Nana to Destiny, Keaton, David Wayne, Kimber and Connor. Her children and grand children held a very special place in her heart, and she found great joy in watching them grow and reach for the highest of success life has to offer.

Whether you needed advice, assistance or just someone to listen, Sharron was always there. She was never afraid to get into the work and would give her all to help you tackle any challenge and attain your success, as much as if it were her own. She truly understood that “life was not about waiting for the storm to pass, but it should be like dancing in the rain.”

Sharron’s two step here on Earth ended January 1, 2022. While many have passed on and were waiting to join her in heaven, including: her husband David, her parents Willie Leon and Flossie, and her older sister Kaye Shafer; Sharron leaves both her children - Crystal and David Leon (Ashley), all her grandchildren - Destiny, Keaton, David Wayne, Kimber and Connor, her sister Vickie Kelley (Johnny), two sisters-in-law – Melba Whitmire and Donna Walker (Wayne), three nieces – Tammy Miller (Albert), Traci Hughes, Crista Canafax Newton (Timothy), two nephews- Kevin Whitmire and Roy Stephens, a very close cousin – Billy Redmon (Donald) and a crowd of friends and extended family to continue the dance though tears and rain.
