Obituary

Russell A. Mattson was called to The Arms of God on July 11, 2023. He was born May 20, 1944 in Jamestown, New York to Carl and Grace Mattson.

He is survived by his wife Vanita Mattson of Keller Texas; Sister Helen Doutt and husband Sam, of Gibsonville, North Carolina; Son Russell Mattson II and wife Monique of Rowlett, Texas; Stephen Mattson of Rome New York; Stepsons; Travis Armstrong and wife Amanda of Aledo, Texas; Greg Armstrong and wife Lisa of Argyle, Texas; and Stepdaughter Becky Greenwood and husband Todd of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Russell was preceded in death by his father and mother, grandparents and many uncles and aunts.

As a high school student at Southwestern High School Jamestown New York, Russell played in the Band, played Football, and was Senior Class President. Russell served in the United States Air Force for four years.

Russell spent twelve plus years involved in youth soccer in Grand Prairie Texas, coaching his sons' and daughter's soccer teams and was a Texas certified Referee Soccer.

Russell loved spending relaxation time at the lake on the weekends water skiing and then docked in-a-cove listening to music having a "cold one". When he was not at the lake, he loved spending time working in his yard, or watching the Dallas Cowboys, and NASCAR.

The family wishes to thank everyone who sent cards, texted, emailed and social media posts for praying and encouraging them during this most heartfelt time.
