Ron was born March 8, 1948, in Snyder, Texas, to Charles “Bus” Laster and his wife, Edna. Ron attended high school in Snyder, and upon graduation, joined the United States Air Force, serving 8 years for our country. Following his years of service with the Air Force, Ron began working for the Federal Aviation Administration, where he retired in 2009 after 38 years of service. Ron went back to work as a consultant for the FAA for 11 additional years, and finally retired in May, 2021.
Ron was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved coaching his children’s and grandchildren’s sports teams throughout the years, attending countless games for them, and watching sports with them. He and Cindy also enjoyed playing sand and indoor volleyball with their friends in the Grapevine Co-Ed Volleyball League, playing together over twenty years.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna, and brothers Jim and Dennis Laster. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cindy; Brother Bill Laster and his wife, Donna; Sister-in-law Cynthia Laster; Daughter Tracie and her husband, Steve Kennedy; Son Stephen Laster; Son Christopher Cannon and his wife, Mary; Daughter Cassie Torres and her husband, Scott; Son Craig Cannon and his wife, Shauna; Son Cary Cannon and his wife, Marion; and Son Cole Cannon; and grandchildren Tayler and Austyn Kennedy, Lauren, Sydney, Peyton, Gabriella, Seth, Chloe, Vivian, Elise, Tess, Mae and Brynn Cannon, and Noah, Allie and Avery Torres as well as many nephews, nieces and extended family.
