Robert E. “Bob” Kiefer
1940-2023
Robert E. “Bob” Kiefer passed away peacefully early on Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Colleyville, Texas at home.
Robert was born on March 24, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa to Joseph P. and Marie C. (Powers) Kiefer. He was born the oldest of 3 children. Bob graduated from St. Columbkille’s High School in 1958. He was the class Treasurer. Bob worked at Kraft Foods in Moline and Cedar Rapids; a event staff at the Iowa Hawkeyes football games in Iowa City; owner of Viking Lounge and Steakhouse in Cedar Rapids; and DCA/Golden Dipt Foodservice and Kerry Foodservice in Dallas. He retired from Kerry in 2011. He was Salesman of the Year numerous times and was respected by his co-workers.
Bob married Joanne M. Blasen on April 25, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa. They lived in Iowa, Illinois, and Texas. Robert married Peggy Steward on June 27, 2020 in North Richland Hills, Texas. They lived in Colleyville, Texas.
Bob enjoyed sports including football, basketball, bowling, golf, and softball. He was fans of the Dallas Cowboys, Boston Celtics, St. Louis Cardinals, Notre Dame, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Texas Longhorns. Bob loved his fantasy football league and the guys in the league. He was on the board volunteering for Grapevine Heritage AMBUCS giving AmTrykes and tricycles to needy adults and children. He donated to several charities.
He is survived by his five children: Dan (Lilia) Kiefer, Scott Kiefer, Bobby (Becky) Kiefer, Kris (Warren Creason) Kiefer, and Craig (Laura) Kiefer;
His step sons: Gary McGinnis and Blue Layne;
His grandchildren: Cole (Taylor) and Caleb Kiefer and Lindsay McAllister and Emily (Rob) Minoff and Catie (Greg) Hansen; Kortney and Blake Kiefer; Tyler (Shara) and Bo Kiefer and Madison (Chase) Matthews; Britney (Jeff) Selph; and Jordan, Holly, and Rachel Kiefer;
His great-grandchildren: Addilyn, Emma, and Lyla Kiefer; Avery and Riley McAlester; Bishop and Presley Minoff; Olivia and Calvin Kiefer; Kaya Kiefer; Cooper Matthews; and Jaxon, Huxley, and Lexi Selph;
His in-laws: Susan Kiefer of New Franken, Wisconsin; Marilyn Kiefer of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; Nacia (Gary) West of Colleyville, Texas;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Joanne Kiefer, and his brothers: James Kiefer and Thomas Kiefer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
