Philip Stephen O’Dell passed away on May 24, 2025, in North Richland Hills, Texas at the age of 83.

He was born on August 18, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York to Philip J. O’Dell and Helen O’Dell (Cross).

Philip attended Manual Training High School in Brooklyn, New York. He later served in the US Army National Guard, where he dedicated himself to his duties and embraced the camaraderie and discipline of military life. Following his military service, Philip had a distinguished career with the NY Athletic Club and the Links Club, where he was respected for his professionalism and integrity. He was a member of St. Agnes Church in Brooklyn and found solace in his faith and community there.

An avid enthusiast of baseball, military history, and old movie history, Philip enjoyed exploring these passions during his leisure time, often sharing fascinating stories and facts with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Helen O’Dell; sisters, Joan Scrobe, Elizabeth O’Dell; brothers-in-law, Joe Scrobe, Tony Sgarlato, Frank Russo, brother, Robert O’Dell; and nephew, Ryan Russo. 

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Rose Marie O’Dell; daughter, Kelly Ann Ioannou and her husband, George Ioannou; sister, Ellen Sgarlato; grandchildren, Nikolas Ioannou and Alexandra Ioannou; nieces and nephews, Dianne Kessler and her husband Jamie, Janet Sgarlato, Caren Sgarlato, Deb Caprarola and her husband Joseph, Anthony Sgarlato, Bernadette Warman and her husband Russell; great nieces and nephews,  Eric Caprarola, his wife Jackie and their family, Brian Caprarola and his wife Janelle, Channing Hayes, her husband Harrison and their family,  Adianna Russo; former sister in law, AJ Watson; numerous other extended family members and loving friends. 

A visitation service will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, with a mass beginning at 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in North Richland Hills, Texas, where friends, family, and acquaintances will gather to honor his memory.
