Patricia Lou Dixon Obituary

Patricia Lucille Thompson was born August 22, 1929, in Albany, New York.  Her parents, Gardner Edward Thompson and Ionia Phillips Thompson were blessed with twins born just six minutes apart.  Quickly, they were called Patty Lou and Mary Lou, with Mary Lou innately choosing her role as oldest.  They would later be known as the "Thompson Twins" as they were very musically talented and performed tap, ballet and chorus in local theaters.  They also played Marimba duets and Hymns that were broadcast over the radio throughout New York and New Hampshire.  Soon, there was a brother born "Skipper" Gardner Edward Thompson Jr on Dec. 6, 1938.  After the passing of their mother when Patty and Mary were sixteen, their father packed up the belongings and headed West to Texas.  Patty and Mary both graduated from Northside High School in FW and also met their future husbands there.  They each married and raised their families in Hurst, Texas.  Both continued with their musical talents in Texas and were charter members in starting St Vincent's Episcopal Church in Bedford and were also founders and President of the Sonata Music Club of Hurst.

Pat is preceded in death by her mother-1945; her father-1966; her first husband, Roy Dale Cleveland-1975; her brother-1990; her twin sister-2001; her grandson, Keith Cleveland-2012; and her second husband, James Irwin Dixon Jr, 2018.  She is survived by her three children, Bruce Cleveland and wife Gina, of Hurst; Linda Funk and husband Jim, of Fort Worth; and Donna Cooper and husband Brent, of Hurst. She left behind twenty-one grandchildren in the immediate area spanning three generations, and numerous other extended family members and friends.

Pat passed peacefully in her sleep on Dec 11, 2023, in North Richland Hills.  She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.  We will remember her beautiful soprano voice, her love for classical music and also her pet chihuahuas, and especially, her love for family.  Pat valued the importance of maintaining close and highly supportive relationships.  They not only enrich our lives, but they also extend them.
