Norma Leona Pearson Lewis (1938-2025)

Norma passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025 at her home in Murphy, Texas.

Norma was born in Wolfe City on November 3, 1938 to Argyle and Zora (Boyd) Pearson.  She was raised on a farm, spending her summers picking cotton with her parents.  In school, she was a state UIL champion in Math and graduated Valedictorian of her high school at just 16 years old.  Norma was a valuable asset to the accounting branch of Genuine Parts Company during her 30+ years working for them; ultimately retiring in 1996.

Norma welcomed her daughter Linda Marie into life in 1961, together with her first husband Lee Wesley Tapp, also from Wolfe City. Norma and Linda spent the following years together as a young family in Dallas.

When Norma joined a monthly bridge group, she found not only a lifelong hobby, but also lifelong friends.  She enjoyed the game so much, she even taught a course on how to play bridge at the local college. 

Norma later married Donald Lewis in 1979, and they settled into a home in North Richland Hills.  Norma and Don loved to host both of their families for holiday get-togethers, including Easter egg hunts and Christmases with personalized stockings for everyone. For 33 years, their house was regularly filled with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Norma and Don’s family came to include Linda and Frank Story, Rusty and Ann Lewis, Laura and Bob Maki, Donald Ray Lewis Jr., and Beth Ann and Matt White.  Not long after, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren started rolling in and she was overjoyed to take on her new role as Grandma. Norma held close to her heart her grandchildren, Ricky, Shelly, Michael, David, Christopher, Brett, Frank, Amanda, Megan, Kristen, Ryan, Will, and their spouses, children, and grandchildren.

A cat aficionado, Norma always enjoyed sharing her home with her furry companions. She spent much of her final years enjoying family dinners and game nights, playing Mexican Train and card games with friends, and reading mystery novels.

She was preceded in death by husband Don Lewis, stepson Rusty Lewis, and daughter-in-law Anne Lewis.
