Obituary

Noble G. Cantrell, 83, of Hurst, Texas entered into heaven on October 1, 2021 after a brief illness. He was a caring, compassionate, and generous man who loved the Lord, his family, and his friends.

Noble was born on May 14, 1938 to Jerry Cantrell and Mary Tolliver Cantrell in Washington County, Virginia. After graduating from high school, Noble joined the United States Air Force which ultimately led to his career as an air traffic controller. His lifelong interest in aviation resulted in him volunteering for many years at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as an Airport Ambassador.

Noble married Jan Sandlin Cantrell in 1999 in Maui, Hawaii. Shortly after their marriage, Noble accepted Christ as his Savior and for the rest of his life served God in various capacities at First Baptist Church of Hurst. He also enjoyed serving the community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels and, along with Jan, was a faithful supporter of the ministry of Mid Cities Women’s Clinic.

Noble was an avid reader and life-long learner. He studied history, politics, and current events, but most of his library and time were devoted to the study of the Bible. He and Jan also loved traveling. Their travels included two additional trips to Hawaii, an Alaskan cruise, and various trips around the country visiting friends and relatives.

Noble was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tim, and sister, Lois.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Jan; son Russell Cantrell; daughter Tracey Cantrell; daughter Robin Palmer and husband Jim; step-daughters Gina Mayfield and husband David, Lisa Harding and husband David, and Jana Dutton and husband Kevin; grandchildren Hollie, Chris, Travis, and Chanel; step-grandchildren Christa, Elizabeth, Joshua, Jared, Thomas, and Nathan; fourteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Hurst at 1:00 pm. If you wish to honor Noble, please consider a donation in his name to Mid Cities Women’s Clinic.
