Dr. Nelson Rossy was born on August 29, 1952 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was the son of Nelson & Carmen Rossy and younger brother of Neysa Rossy Evans. Growing up in Puerto Rico, he made life long friends, all of whom share in our grief today. As a teenager he became an Eagle Scout and then Scout Master, leading his own troop.
On July 28, 1973 he married his childhood sweetheart Carmen (Mildy) Berio. Together they moved to Texas that year, where Nelson became a part of the Pietro’s Pizza family.
They had 3 children; Nelson Antonio, Pablo Jose and Griselle Marie. They then took on the adventure of moving to the Dominican Republic where Nelson completed his Doctorate of Medicine. While there, he also became a Grand Master, in a Historic Masonic Lodge, which also led him to become a Shriner.
In 1987, Nelson moved his family back to Texas where they established their existing community of family and friends.
Every year Nelson and Mildy loved hosting holiday parties, especially their annual Rossy New Years Eve bash. Nelson lived a full life by being a fraternity brother in Phi Eta Mu, a softball coach, the life of every party, and best salsa dancer in town.
In his free time, Nelson enjoyed playing dominos, watching Western movies, supporting his children and grandchildren at all of their dance competitions and sporting events.
Ultimately, of all his life’s accomplishments, his proudest moment was becoming the Papa of his 6 grandchildren Mia Rose, Lucas Martin, Sofia Lilly, Gianna Jasmine, Liam Antonio and Nico Joaquin. This does not include all of the adopted grandchildren who he loved and shared with through Mildy’s daycare.
Through his life and the many people he has shared with, we know Nelson’s legacy will live on.
He is survived by his mother Carmen Garcia, his sister Neysa Evans, his wife Mildy, and his children Nelson A. (Heidi), Pablo (Jessica), Griselle (Robert). His grandchildren; Mia, Lucas, Sofia, Gianna, Liam, and Nico. His sister-in-laws Norma (Jorge), and Myriam (Mark), brother-in-law Antonio. His nieces and nephews; Juliana, Gabriela (Drew), William, James (Sholeh).
