Obituary

Michael H. (Bubba) Haney ,72, retired fire chief for the Bedford Fire Department, passed away Saturday, September 10th, 2022. 

Mike was born May 18 th , 1950, in Fort Worth to Oliver and Suzanne Haney. He graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1968. Mikes passion was the fire service. As a high school student, he became a volunteer, and then was hired as the second paid fire fighter of the Bedford Fire Department. He advanced in the department over 45 years, eventually becoming Chief, until his retirement in 2007.  

He married Barbara Reynolds in 1970 and they welcomed Michelle in 1972.   

After retirement, Mike and Barbara enjoyed touring the country in their RV and spending time with their grandkids.   

Mike is proceeded in death by his father Oliver Haney, wife Bobbie, mother Suzanne Case, stepfather Albert Johnson, wife Mary Nell and brother Mark Johnson.  

He is survived by wife Barbara, daughter Michelle Stanley and her husband John  Stanley, grandson John Michael Stanley, granddaughter Makenzie Stanley, stepfather Jerry Case, and his puppy Bailey. 

He is also survived by numerous friends and family, both by blood and by smoke as he considered the fire service his other family.  

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fallen Fire Fighters Fund would be appreciated.
