Linda Roberta Day Obituary

Linda Roberta (Summers) Day was born on April 25, 1941, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Roy Summers and Juanita (DePreist) Summers. Linda passed away on December 31, 2024.

Linda was the eldest of Juanita’s six daughters. She graduated from Samuels High School in Dallas, Texas, and began attending Arlington State College (now University of Texas at Arlington). Linda began competing in beauty pageants and modeling and won Miss Arlington in 1960. She went on to represent Arlington competing in the Miss Texas pageant the same year. Soon after this she went through the American Airlines Academy and became a Stewardess, which allowed her to travel and see the world for several years. In 1967, she gave birth to her daughter, Amy, who was her pride and joy. Linda met her husband and love of her life, William Edward “Bill” Day, at a farewell party for mutual friends of her parents and Bill. They married on June 17, 1978, creating a blended family of her daughter and his 2 children. She began working as an Executive Assistant for the Texas Christian University School of Music in 1984, where she would also continue her college education. She graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies degree in 1992 with a special interest in Archeology. She continued working at TCU until retiring in 1996. This allowed her to spend more time with family, which was her greatest joy.

In her free time, she was a gifted painter and artist who enjoyed attending classes and workshops. She loved sharing her art and talent with those closest to her. Her paintings can be found adorning her own home as well as those of her loved ones. Linda was an avid reader who could often be found enjoying a good book in the sun, and even dabbled some in writing herself. She had a passion for history, especially the Native American and Ancient Egyptian cultures, which she collected art from. She also loved to travel and see the world, which she was able to do many times through her career and after, with family and friends.

She was an outstanding woman with a flair for the dramatic, a great sense of humor, and an unwavering love for her family.

Linda is now reunited with her loving husband, Bill, who preceded her in death on March 3, 2022.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
