Linda Ruth Brownlee Obituary

Linda Ruth Brownlee, age 84 of Haltom City, TX, went to be with her Lord on December 3, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2 pm at White’s Chapel Methodist Church, 185 S White Chapel Blvd, Southlake, TX 76092.  The service will be held in the Grace Chapel.  If you wish, in lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or any dementia research facility.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Joethel Snow; her first husband Daris Gene Foster, and her second husband William L Brownlee.  She is survived by a son Mark (Cindy) Foster of North Richland Hills; two daughters, Lisa (Byron) Adams of Burleson, Laurie (Mike) Mathis of Granbury; a sister, Jeannette Christian of Decatur; six grandchildren, Brody Adams, Erin Walter, Liana Younkins, Landon Foster, Zachary Mathis, and Kiersten McAfee; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews,  great nieces and great nephews.

Linda grew up in the small town of Slidell, TX on a working farm and attended the small school in town. Reading Jeannette’s school books that she brought home, she was able to skip first grade and enter directly into second grade – a fact which made her proud.  She was always a top student and passed the love of learning onto her children.

As an example of a Proverbs 31 woman, Linda always put her family first. She was a selfless, earnest person who taught her children to love the Lord, the importance of a good work ethic, honesty, integrity and dedication to family.  Ensuring that her children had what they needed was always her priority, often sacrificing her own needs. She was very involved in the lives of her kids and grandkids, but did not interfere and never gave unsolicited advice; in fact, you’d sometimes have to drag an opinion out of her!

In her younger years, Linda was a stay at home mom.  At the kids grew older, she entered the work force as a day care worker, day care cook (she was a wonderful cook), then finally landed in the world of banking. Possessing a great work ethic, she rarely missed a day of work and retired from banking at the age of 75.

An avid sports fan, Linda rarely missed a game of the Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers. She loved to discuss the teams with family or anyone who shared her passion. (She knew that Dez did, in fact, catch the ball). Her other TV favorite was the Hallmark Channel where she would watch Christmas movies year round if she could.  Reading was also a hobby and she made many trips to the local library exchanging books; she never quite got the craze of digital books though she owned a digital tablet.

Although Linda was basically a homebody, she had the fortunate opportunity to travel with her sister, cousins, and others on many trips.  They visited Ireland, Switzerland, Hawaii, Alaska, Greece, and Nantucket among others.   The fun and humorous stories after these trips were abundant.

All who knew Linda grew to love and respect her. This includes the staff who took excellent care of her in her final weeks, and for this we are so thankful. Thanks also to all who reached out during this difficult time; the family is very appreciative.
