Kenneth Hampton, Jr. Obituary

Kenneth Ray Hampton Jr. was born in Houston, Texas on March 23, 1956 to Helen and Kenneth Hampton Sr. He departed this earthly life on April 22, 2021. Kenny Ray, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a gentle giant who had the biggest heart and was a friend to many. He loved music and was always singing (loudly). He was a philosophical and sensitive man who loved to play golf and be outdoors. Kenny Ray had an immense love for his family, especially his grandchildren and cherished every second he spent with them. He always found the good in situations and people no matter who they were. Kenny Ray loved to laugh and didn’t take himself too seriously. He was the life of every party and loved to have a good time. He was a faithful and loyal man who will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He married his life-long love Donna Holder on April 28, 1979. Together they had three children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Travis Keith Hampton, granddaughter Mylee Mae Hampton, mother-in-law Jan Holder, and brothers-in-law Randy Holder and David Jesse Wolf.

Kenny Ray is survived by his wife of 42 years Donna Hampton, daughter Lindsey Hampton, son Trey Hampton and wife Chelsea Hampton, grandchildren Olivia and William Hampton, brother Keith Hampton, sister Kendel Wolf and sister Kelly Adams and her husband Bill. He is also survived by sister-in-law Debbie Rasbury and husband Gary, brother-in-law Rusty Holder, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of life-long friends.

A memorial service celebrating Kenny Ray’s life will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Ridge Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Lauren Christenberry. The service will be followed by a lunch celebration at Sammie’s B-B-Q restaurant hosted by Sam Gibbons.
