Karen Jean Hauser Obituary
Karen Jean Hauser, 50, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, in Ft. Worth Texas, after a battle with cancer.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Don and Judy (Poling) Hauser, and spent most of her youth growing up in Indiana. Karen graduated from Zionsville High School in 1990, where she was an honor student and an active softball, basketball, and volleyball player. Her love for learning and sports earned her a scholarship to Marian University in Indianapolis, where she continued to play softball and studied education to achieve her long time dream of becoming a teacher. After graduating with a degree in Special Education in 1994, Karen made her home in Watauga, Texas, and later obtained her Master's Degree in Education Technology from the University of Texas at Arlington. She put both degrees to use as a special education inclusion teacher and most recently as an ARD Facilitator with the Birdville Independent School District in a distinguished career spanning 28 years. She was a fierce advocate for her students and beloved for her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor.
Karen could often be found on the softball field, where she coached hundreds of students at Richland High School. When not coaching or teaching, Karen loved traveling, spending time on and in the water, driving her famous blue jeep and later cruising around with the top down in her convertible. She loved her friends, family and students, and treasured her roles as 'big' sister to her twin Sharon, favorite aunt to her nephews, and all things William Shatner, AC/DC, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
She is survived by her mother, Judy Hauser of Lafayette, IN, brother Doug Hauser (Jenny), nephews George and Fred of Noblesville, IN, twin sister Sharon of Bangkok, Thailand, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved cats Bella and Colby. Karen is preceded in death by her father, Don Hauser, and infant niece Frances Hauser.
A memorial service to honor Karen will be held at 4pm on Thursday, August 11, at the First United Methodist Church, 6112 Watauga Rd, Watauga, TX 76148, and also livestreamed. Donations in her name can be made to the church for their ministry to the Watauga community.
