Julia Brewer Obituary

Julia H Brewer passed from this life to the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday 1/21/21 at her home in Bedford Texas after battling rectal cancer. Julia was born in Shreveport LA on 2/18/26 to Charles and Persiler Webber.

Julia grew up traveling all over the south and west coast as her parents pursed many jobs all over during the depression. Julia graduated from high school Grand Coulee WA and made her way back to Fort Worth Texas where she attended Ft. Worth Secretarial School. Upon completion of school she went to work for Swift packing house on the secretarial floor. It was while she was working here that she met the love of her life Gerald (Red) Brewer. They were married in January of 1949 and had 60 wonderful years of marriage. During this time Gerald was drafted into the navy and served two tours one in the South Pacific and one in Korea. After being discharged from the service they moved back from California to their home state of Texas. While Gerald went back to work @ swift packing house as a meat salesman Julia stayed home and raised her children. They had 3 children, 2 daughters Sherry Johnston; Sandra Ferguson and one son Don Brewer. After her children were all in school she started in the business with Avon. She was known throughout the H-E-B area as Ms. Brewer the Avon lady. Julia sold Avon for over 25 years earning many awards for her great leadership and sales ability. She was a member of North Point Baptist Church formerly known as First Baptist Church of Hurst. Julia loved to serve her community and she did so as a member of Care Corp of north Texas and several senior citizens clubs around the H-E-B area.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; several step-brothers, her husband Gerald Brewer.

Julia is survived by her daughter Sherry Johnston and her spouse Tim, son Don Brewer and his spouse Kim; two granddaughters Stefanie Pogue and her spouse William Pogue and Erica Neufeld and her spouse Wayne Neufeld. Seven great grandsons Chase & Tyler LaFleur, Nathan & Collin Pogue, Jacob, Benjamin, and Lucas Neufeld; and several nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Don and Sherry would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way for taking care of their mother during her last few years. Special thank you to Bill Peterson & his wife from CareCorp and the entire staff at CareCorp, the staff of Hurst Senior center, her many friends from North Point Baptist Church & especially the guys that parked her car Gary Whittaker and all the others that I can’t remember the names you made her feel like a princess.
