Jorge Ortiz Obituary

Jorge entered this world on August 29, 1979 in Panama with so much joy and curiosity. Jorge befriended all that crossed his path.  He learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix, and loved who he wanted to love. Jorge had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and was always the most fun person at any party.  He was a devoted husband and friend with a soft heart who always wanted the best for everyone. He made it a priority to always be there for his friends and family.

He had knack for solving problems. He was a techie aficionado and a walking Motor Trend magazine. As a young boy, he disassembled all his toys to get a better understanding of how they operated. This curiosity continued throughout his life with his first computer and then later with cars.  At the age of 21 he co-founded a Mustang club, Oklahoma Deadhorse Mustangs. The friendships he formed within the club lasted his lifetime.

Jorge had no hobbies - he had passions. Some of his passions were spelunking, sky diving, Latin dancing, SCUBA diving, skiing, hiking, camping, exercising, technology, racing/car enthusiast, beer connoisseur, mixology, photography, and traveling. Jorge and his wife made many wonderful memories traveling to 29 countries. Jorge and Shelly celebrated 20 years together on September 1, 2020.

When Jorge received his cancer diagnoses, he was determined to fight it head on. He pushed himself to exercise every day, even on heavy chemo days. Jorge will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and living life to the fullest.

Jorge’s last breath was taken Friday September 11, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Shelly Ortiz.  He is also survived by his mother, Delmire Booton; father, Jorge Ortiz Vergara, bonus mom, Zoyla; brother, Luis Carlos; sister-in-law, Cindy Yarnell; father-in-law, James Sasson; mother-in-law, Brenda Dotson, bonus father-in-law, Mike Dotson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lastly lifelong friends.
