Johnie Crumpler Obituary

Johnie Walton Crumpler, devoted husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, Papa and friend went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2021. A private family graveside service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Colleyville.

Johnie was born July 3, 1935 in Texarkana, TX to Johnny and Estelle Crumpler. Later, the family moved to Shreveport, LA, where he met Betty Bacon in elementary school. Although young, he soon knew she was “the one”.  They dated all through high school, fell in love and were married June 12, 1954.

While a student at Fair Park High School, Johnie was Colonel of ROTC, ran track, and was the starting half back on the 1953 State Championship football team. After graduating from Fair Park he attended and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University and Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. Johnie followed the Lord’s leading and went on to pastor several churches in Texas, Washington and California.

After retiring from the ministry, Johnie created JWC Homes specializing in new home construction. Later, he worked for other custom home builders and remodeling companies.

Johnie’s passion for ministry never ended as he continued to serve as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. His love for missions took him to many places including Peru, Africa, Austria and Romania. Later, a dream was fulfilled – as he was able to walk where Jesus walked…in the Holy Land.

Johnie had the honor of baptizing and marrying each of his children, as well as his grandchildren.

Johnie’s favorite past times included reading to his grandchildren, studying the Bible, prayer journaling, playing church softball, fishing and hunting with family, gardening (won N.R.H. yard of the month!), and fixing/repairing things around the house.

Johnie is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his Mom and Dad, his two sisters- Barbara Rambin and Betty Keifer. He is survived by his 3 children- son, Kevin Crumpler (Kandis), daughters, Robyn Ross (Allan), Rebecca Harville (Ken), grandchildren- Ashley (Philip), Austin (Roxana), Tyler, Stephani (Jon), Michael (Willow), Bradley (Mallori), Amy (Josh), Logan (Taylor); great grandchildren- Hunter, Mayson, Noah, Jolene, Knox, Brazos, Daniela, Asher, Brayker, Finley, and Johnie Memphis. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

“WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!”
