John Dominguez

John Dominguez, (77), of Levelland Texas, passed away on September 8th, 2023 after a courageous battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

John was born to Porfirio and Rafaela Bela Dominguez, on May 15, 1946, in Marlin, Texas. After graduating from Levelland High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served proudly in the Army during the Vietnam War. John had a tour in East Africa before returning to the States. Upon his return he attended South Plains College and graduated from West Texas State University. John also received his Masters in administration with a Supervisors certification in 1980, from Stephen F. Austin University.

John started teaching In Hereford ISD in 1973. He became a Principal at the Elementary level. After 10 years, John and his wife, Aurora were recruited to the Amarillo ISD as Principals where they stayed until John retired. They moved to North Richland Hills to be closer to their son and accommodate his wife’s remaining years to retire. John worked for Fort Worth ISD as a tutor and district examiner in reading. His family meant more to him than anything in the world. The only thing that rivaled this passion was that for the Dallas Cowboys.

John married the "love of his life", Aurora(Bautista)Dominguez on June 3, 1972. John is survived by his wife, Aurora and son Dominique, one brother, Henry Dominguez, three sisters, Juanita(Dominguez)Cruz, husband, Mel, Geneva(Dominguez)Gomez, husband, Al, Cathy(Dominguez)Rios, husband, Emilio, many nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

The Dominguez family will have a rosary and viewing on Friday September 22nd from 4-6pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. The viewing and service will be at Forest Ridge Funeral Home located at 8525 Mid Cities Blvd, North Richland Hills, TX 76182. A reception will take place at Back Forty Smokehouse after the services. The address is 8021 Main Street, North Richland Hills. The burial will be conducted on September 25th at DFW National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Tx 75211 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in John’s name, to the P.O. and Rafaela
